Healing isn’t linear.
If we imagine the healing process as a road, we realize quickly that we often must deal with a non-linear path. Take, for example, the grief that comes with the loss of a pet. We feel overcome with pain that throws us off our life’s path. We might find ourselves in unknown territory, unsure of how to move forward, feeling like we have lost our place without our beloved companion.
We struggle with the heartbreak and cannot even figure out the next step that takes us back to the road. We all grieve differently; some of us seek solace inside, trying to process the loss internally, while others find comfort in talking about their pain and exploring their feelings with others who have gone through the same experience.
No matter how we grieve, we need to understand that the process of healing is not linear. During the grieving process, we will encounter roadblocks, detours, and standstills. But if we endure, we will find our way back to the path and heal.
